My mother-in-law is visiting from England and she carried 5 lbs of British Vogue’s to give to me when she got off of the plane. I, in turn, had 30 kinds of tea ready for her in my tea drawer when she arrived.
A friend mentioned to me this week that I tend to be either very dressed or very casual. I think that’s mostly true. I am interested in and wearable clothing. After spending a number of years dressing in the aesthetic of the companies that I worked for…I am finally showing up as myself at Dorsey.
As usual, I’m going to remind you that you probably don’t need anything in this column. But if you’re looking for something similar, perhaps this email will help you find it, or send you in a new direction altogether.
On the subject of second hand pieces, which I really love, if you’ve not yet discovered IG's Samantha Friedman I highly suggest you follow her for vintage finds. The blazer I’m wearing below is sourced from her (shipping was easy and very quick).
Happy February. May it feel brief.
Questions or feedback? See you in the comments section. Also, video! I’m trying it for the first time in this column.
All my very best,
Meg

What I Put On This Week
White sneakers dress everything down (even evening pieces) and I like to wear them as much in winter as I do in the summer. They work with everything but don’t get the call out they deserve because they’re such an obvious shoe (no one is excited about writing about a basic sneaker). About a year ago I started looking for sneakers with a slimmer fit (less logo and less bulk, too). The two pairs I wear most often are these ones by Sperry and this pair by The Row (seen below).
I so appreciate your efforts to make this a non-shopping only focused newsletter! Your style is inimitable anyways!
Always love to see what you put together — including Dorsey pieces — and adore this direction. The “what to buy” newsletters are teetering on oversaturated and it makes me sad for the amount of overconsumption happening.
