Dear reader,
It's 2 am and I am on a sleepless flight from Los Angeles to Paris. I am headed there to shoot a new campaign for Dorsey and I've been up the entire flight. A gentleman next to me has been sound asleep since takeoff.
France was Dorsey's favorite country. Even her bathroom faucets were french. In my very early twenties I was meant to leave New York City to go to a language school there but I stayed to take a job at a fashion e-commerce site that had a small office on 14th street. The rest of my career is history and 17 years later, here I am.
I've always believed in the butterfly effect. The idea that one single decision or delay in your day sets off a series of changes to your life that alters the outcome so profoundly that your entire life would look different if you hadn't stopped for that coffee, or missed your taxi, or walked up the street to that bar for one drink before dinner.
One June, in Paris, I was on my way to a photoshoot, staring out the window of my taxi when I saw a flea market out of the corner of my eye. So I asked the driver to pull over and let me out. I had 15 minutes to look at vintage jewelry as a gift for my grandmother.
That was the day I decided to start Dorsey.
Hi from France, where I'll be working through this weekend with my little girl (who is on a short summer vacation from school) in tow.
In no particular order, here’s what I put on today. Questions on anything at all? Please comment here and I’ll ping you right back.
All my very best,
Meg Strachan
Where: The apartment we’re staying in during our stay in Paris
Wearing: This silk Doen dress from their summer launch (I wear Doen dresses in size medium and large, even though I could wear small, so they’re a bit roomy) it works well for the meetings I have this morning and being a mum after, these suede shoes that I found last week in Los Angeles (they are sold out everywhere except MyTheresa) and brought in place of sneakers, and this Longchamp bag in white that I’ve been carrying most summers since I found other versions of it (I really prefer this bag to raffia bags, it doesn’t scratch my arm as I walk and isn’t heavy, and it’s great if you’re carrying coloring books, barbies, or crayons with you everywhere you go)
On occasion I may use an affiliate link in a post and receive a very small percentage of a sale linked through this site.
Heading to Paris on Friday for a few days with a girlfriend (first time away from my kids!) Any recommendations or must do’s? And thanks so much for all the effort you put into the newsletter!
Love this, especially the flea market story. How do you keep everything in the Filet bag, is it lined?
