Dear Reader,

In July I was visiting family in Cape Cod when I walked into an L.L. Bean store and saw these Boot Mocs sitting on a shelf. They were out of place for July, but in my head I had an idea for an editorial spread based around them (perfect for a November issue shoot for a legacy publication, shot in Colorado, on Doutzen Kroes), I rarely see practical and affordable pieces in fashion spreads. The focus is on luxury. It feels like a lost opportunity to bring shoppers into an aspirational world that works for our real lives.

That was the moment I decided to expand this substack in 2025 into a more creative space that feels more like me.

So here I am 6 months later in my L.L. Bean boot mocs and Levi’s, visiting family, drinking a coffee and getting ready to go for a walk with my cousin in an old sweater and balaclava. My style and the things I like don’t change much from year to year.

Thank you so much for being here. It’s been a little hard to find time to do this on the weekends as DORSEY continues to grow. But I’ve finally figured out where this column can fit in for the long term and my why for doing it.

I’m looking forward to sharing WIPOT (What I Put On Today) 3.0 with you early next year. Still a weekend project but much more of how I see the world of style.
