The 3 Coats I'm Wearing This Fall

COAT: IN CREAM or SAME COAT: IN BLACK (I’m size 34 or 36, this is 34)

Dear Reader,

Everything I know about coats I learned from Dorsey. She could have given all of us a masterclass in the right kind of oversized outwear (fabric is key, cut is important, she didn’t do structure, and her coats always had the right amount of slouch).

I have looked through no less than 1,700 coats for fall already. This is the only coat I ordered (and probably the only one I’m going to order as it’s an investment piece). One note, it’s about to sell out. I first discovered this brand, Sportmax, at Bon Marche in Paris. It drapes perfectly (in my opinion) and manages to be daytime and evening at once. I’m wearing size 34.

Try not be intimidated by the cream color (but if you are I’ve included a link for the black, too). I wear cream coats over denim and tees. They’re one of the easiest ways to elevate the basics we all live in through fall (I especially love beige coats over black outfits).

There is a belt that comes with this coat, however, in the flurry of the tropical storm I left it in my car. Pay no mind the odd thing happening with my pants and shirt in this photo, too. Those are the Jenni Kayne Saturday sweats (size medium).
