Dear Reader,

I looked all over the internet for this deep V dress for you this week and I’ve come up completely short. I think it is a few seasons old, as I bought mine second hand, and I found only one listed on Poshmark in white (I posted the link to our chat and it was gone within an hour).

That being said, I found two other dresses that are equally as versatile that I love and one of them is nearly identical in style and length (see below). In summer I wear as much black as I do white, beige, navy, and grey.

I had the most lovely week with the Marie Claire team at their annual Power Play conference in Los Angeles. My heartfelt thanks to the MC team for graciously extending the invitation to me. If you’re not yet reading Nikki Ogunnaike’s newsletter Self Checkout I highly suggest it.

While THIS DRESS is not the dress I’m wearing in the video above it is very similar in terms of the weight and drape of mine. Part of what I love about my version of this dress is the drape of the fabric. It’s heavy enough to feel dramatic but easy to wear. Over time I’m noticing I am opting for longer dresses with casual canvas sneakers.

The second version of my dress that I found for you is THIS DRESS. The wide sleeveless shoulder are sophisticated. I prefer wider straps to thin ones. This is a much more casual dress but it is somehow similar enough that I wanted to include it here. I’ve ordered it in size medium but have never tried this brand before and can’t yet speak to fit.

I was running out the door to the MarieClaire conference and I couldn’t find anything I wanted to wear. In those moments, I put on black trousers and a black long sleeve shirt. Mine are both old. You likely have a pair of black trousers you love. Any black tee will do. Add a white sneaker. Add your big carryall bag (this one is The Row Margaux). Then don’t give what you’re wearing a second thought. There’s a reason most of us buy classics. They make getting dressed easy.

My first cup of tea. Followed by my second cup of tea. My Row Margaux bag in brown is 17 inches (I believe this is the largest size). I recently sold almost all handbags I own to TRR and bought this one. I am absolutely sure I will be wearing this bag in 30 years.

Lab-gorwn rings @ DORSEY. I change my “wedding” rings almost daily. Both lab-grown white sapphire rings are currently in development at Dorsey (coming FW 2024). My lab-grown white sapphire and blue sapphire Theodora ring is included in our current collection.

For the past two years I’ve continued to reach for THIS Ralph Lauren grey cashmere sweater all seasons. Mine is a size large (if you’re a medium, and you want it to feel lived in and roomy, try the large). I have a few of these sweaters and I absolutely love all RL classics. Dorsey kept a stack of RL sweaters on a shelf in her closet in most colors. Over the years I started buying my own. They always remind me of her. The jeans are vintage Levi’s.
