Dear Reader,
Last weekend I took a 7 pm flight from LAX > home to see my cousin get married at Dorsey’s (in her mother’s wedding dress).
In no particular order, here’s What I Put on this Week, The Column. Questions on anything at all? Please comment here and I’ll ping you right back.
Where: 6 PM at LAX with my husband and 4 year old daughter, en route to my cousins wedding at Dorsey’s home
Wearing: These wide-leg ankle denim by Citizens of Humanity in beige (I wear size 28 but 27 would have worked fine, too, I just preferred a little more length), a Rag and Bone button down flannel shirt in blue (that I can’t find anywhere online, I’m so sorry!), my Celine carryal in Cognac (I’d been looking for this bag for three years as they only make this color every so often and once it’s gone, it’s gone), and my Dorsey lab grown white sapphire 4-prong tennis bracelet in silver
Reading: In Kind magazine (cover to cover) next to my daughter who was not exactly handling a late evening flight very well (read: it was a disaster)
Where: The upstairs guest bedroom in Dorsey’s home, getting ready for a rehearsal dinner evening, in my husbands blazer (a sore subject, to say the least), drinking a large glass of wine (as you can see at the bottom of this photo)
Wearing: My husbands old black blazer, an old pair of white pants from The Row that I bought on TheRealReal, and my Dorsey Crawford earrings in silver (they’re incredibly light - thank you to everyone to DM’d me to let me know that you received yours this week and how much you love them, we worked hard on these to make sure they’re the perfect fit and you can’t feel them when they’re on your lobe), and a fresh OPI Big Apple Red manicure
Re: Statement earrings: If you’ve been looking for an easy big earring to wear, Crawford is it, and I don’t share that lightly
Where: Dorsey’s downstairs guest bathroom, this is her vintage french sink which I broke when I was about 9 years old, she had the sink set into an old Parisian chest (she loved this bathroom and really had a great eye for interesting ways to make her home feel like her)
Wearing: This Victoria Beckham Midi Dress (must tape breasts), my Dorsey Marguerite Collar in emerald and my Dorsey Gwen earrings in emerald (when I am getting dressed for black tie events I always lead with my jewelry and pull my hair back into the same low bun), I only wear red nail polish when I’m attending events (I really prefer a nude color in the summer, less fussy)
Since I started Dorsey, but especially the past year, I’ve found myself talking about Dorsey’s personal jewelry collection and at times feel I fail to do it justice with words alone. So on this trip home I asked my aunt (Dorsey’s daughter) if I could go into her jewelry drawers and show you the pieces she wore when I was growing up. It’s only the second time I’ve been into her closet since she passed away a little over a year ago. So for a moment I stood in it by myself, in the dark, looking up at the shelves, then turned the light switch on, and wiped my eyes. The difference between the costume and fine jewelry that was designed decades ago and the jewelry we see today is really best captured in these photos. These are two of my favorite pieces from her personal collection. I haven’t a clue what they cost or where she found them. We do know they weren’t expensive. She had an eye for what she loved and it was never about the price (or a trend). I thought you’d love to see them. We think these two necklaces are from the 60’s and 70’s. So many of us get dressed with our clothing at the forefront. Not Dorsey, she started with her jewelry.
Wearing: This This Theory dress (I could have worn size 4 but I bought size 6 because it hangs a little more elegantly with a bit more fabric), I adore this dress and it’s coming with me to shoot our Dorsey summer 1 campaign in France next month
Where: Sunday bride/groom farewell brunch at the club
Wearing: This Theory set (I’ve always loved a set but most feel a bit dated to me, a bit too ladylike, but this somehow caught my attention and I’m so glad it did, I’m wearing size 4, I wear the jacket with jeans and the dress with flats for an alt look)
*Vivi’s dress is by Mabo kids
Where: Joan’s on Third in Los Angeles
Wearing: old levi’s, a button down, and drinking a truly awful matcha (my general anxiety wants nothing to do with coffee)
I write this column in the evenings after my daughter goes to sleep and I’ve finished all of my work at Dorsey. It’s been a lovely side passion project just for me. Thank you so much for reading and following along (it’s a lotta Meg, if you ask me).
More to come (including short form newsletters a few times a week).
All my very best,

What I Put On Today
Loved reading and getting alotta Meg insight and thoughts! Appreciate you also sharing how you think about sizes for your clothes; I’m working on not getting stuck on the size but the shape and drape that will be right. Good/necessary reminder.
Hi Megan- thanks for sharing! Question: your link says a Celine tote, but it links to one by The Row. Which is correct? Thanks!
