Dear Reader,
I wore 3 coats in New York City last week but everything I put on underneath was casual for this trip. Jeans, tees, a few mens cashmere sweaters, and a vintage sweatshirt. I didn’t pack any heels or boots. Just a pair of kicks and Jamie Haller loafers.
This is absolutely the season of outwear and I am really inspired right now by how casual and wearable street style fashion has become post pandemic. People are putting on clothes to go to work in. Here’s a few images from my iphone of women with great style that I noticed on the NYC streets during my work week.
As usual, you don’t need anything in this email. But if you’re looking for something similar, perhaps this column may help you find it, or send you in a new direction altogether.
A special thank you to the doorman in my friends building who did not once judge me for stopping to take photos of myself in the mirror behind his desk.

Why is this a paid substack? Instead of accepting frequent brand partnerships I have opted to make this a paid space so that I can write about things I love and things I buy and wear. Need assistance unsubscribing? I’m more than happy to help (and won’t take the slightest offense!). You can email me directly at Meg@ShopDorsey.com. Please give me a few days to respond as I’ve been out for the Thanksgiving holiday and I’m still getting caught up. Both my 5 year old daughter and my inbox are slightly congested (‘tis the season).
I bought this blazer from the mens section and I tried it on next to 3 guys in the mens dressing area. I was a bit confused on the sizing at first but opted for a 40R because I wanted it to fit over sweaters. The blazer itself fits like a glove. For me, this blazer doubles as a light coat. I wore it to the office this morning over a sweater with kicks. If you’re trying mens blazers for the first time, this is a great option, see more sizing info above.
Navy Coat.
In the end, I wore this more than any of the others I brought with me. I’d been looking for a navy coat for a bit and stumbled on this one. I’m wearing a size 10 because I wanted it to be a relaxed instead of a tailored fit.
The eggshell coat that practically changed how I feel about winter.
Love love love all this winter style and inspo. so relaxed, but put together at the same time, effortlessly. Another note, your hair color is strikingly gorgeous. Whenever you can chat about the shade & details, please share!
You’ve really inspired me lately to check out the men’s section. Love this post. Thank you.
